Proposed Multi-Storey Facility to Support Official Work, Accommodation and Special Stay Arrangements for Cancer Patients
Indian Masterminds Stories

Patna: Following the establishment of Bihar Bhavan in New Delhi, the Bihar government has announced plans to construct a Bihar Bhavan in Mumbai to cater to the administrative and welfare needs of people from the state. The project has received administrative approval of ₹314.20 crore from the state cabinet, significantly accelerating its implementation.

The proposed Bihar Bhavan will be constructed at Elephant Estate in the Mumbai Port Trust area. According to Building Construction Department Secretary Kumar Ravi, the building will be a modern, multi-storey structure with a basement and around 30 floors, equipped with advanced amenities.

Facilities for Official Work and Public Welfare

The Mumbai Bihar Bhavan will provide facilities for official government work, meetings, and accommodation. A key feature of the project is the special arrangement for people from Bihar who travel to Mumbai for cancer treatment. Dedicated residential facilities, including a large dormitory, will be developed to support patients and their families during medical treatment.

Kumar Ravi stated that the decision to build Bihar Bhavan in Mumbai is an important step toward public welfare and reflects the state government’s commitment to supporting Bihar residents outside the state, particularly those battling serious illnesses.

Key Features of the Proposed Bihar Bhavan

The Bihar Bhavan will be constructed on approximately 0.68 acres of land and will rise to a height of 69 meters. The building will have 178 rooms, along with a dormitory facility capable of accommodating 240 beds for patients and attendants.

The project also includes sensor-based smart triple and double-decker parking with capacity for 233 vehicles at a time. Additional facilities such as a conference hall with seating for 72 people, a cafeteria, a medical room, and other essential amenities will also be developed.

Strengthening Support Infrastructure Outside the State

Officials said the Mumbai Bihar Bhavan will serve as a vital support centre for Bihar residents in western India, similar to the role played by Bihar Bhavan in New Delhi. The facility is expected to significantly ease accommodation challenges and provide a reliable institutional support system for patients, officials, and visitors from Bihar.
