Patna: The Bihar government has posted 11 officers of the 2025 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) as assistant collectors-cum-assistant magistrates in different districts across the state, marking the beginning of their district-level field exposure after completion of foundational training.
The appointments were notified by the General Administration Department after the officers completed the first phase of training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, while in a parallel capacity-building exercise, 12 trainee IAS officers of the 2024 batch underwent specialised election administration training under the supervision of Bihar’s Chief Electoral Officer.

11 IAS Officers of 2025 Batch Assigned District Postings
According to the official notification, the newly posted IAS probationers have been assigned assistant collector-cum-assistant magistrate roles in key districts across Bihar.
The postings are as follows:

- Ankur Tripathi — Hajipur (Vaishali)
- Saurabh Sinha — Muzaffarpur
- Farkhanda Qureshi — Buxar
- Kumud Mishra — Purnia
- Ketan Shukla — Saharsa
- Kalpana Rawat — Darbhanga
- Nilesh Goyal — Gaya
- Prince Raj — Nawada
- Amit Meena — Bhojpur
- Deepak Kumar — Patna
These postings are intended to provide direct administrative exposure to young officers at the district level, where they will work under senior district administrations and participate in governance delivery.
Officers Recently Completed Foundation Training in Mussoorie
The officers have recently completed the first phase of institutional training at Mussoorie at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration.
This phase generally covers:
- Public administration fundamentals
- Revenue administration
- Law and order systems
- Rural governance
- Development administration
- Field immersion modules
The district attachment now forms the practical component of their probation.
2024 Batch IAS Trainees Receive Specialised Election Training
In a separate administrative exercise, 12 trainee IAS officers from the 2024 batch underwent focused training on electoral administration in Bihar.
The sessions were conducted by Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, Bihar’s Chief Electoral Officer.
The training covered critical components of election management, including:
- Electoral roll preparation
- Voter list purification
- Eligibility norms
- Legal provisions governing elections
- Poll notification procedures
Digital Election Tools Introduced During Training
Trainees were also introduced to digital platforms and technology-driven systems used in election administration.
These included:
- ECI-Net
- Voter awareness programmes
- Electoral database systems
Officials explained the use of technology in ensuring clean electoral rolls and transparent election conduct.
Practical Exposure to Poll Management Process
The officers were given detailed understanding of the full election cycle, including:
- Filing of nominations
- Scrutiny of nomination papers
- Withdrawal of candidature
- Symbol allocation
- District-level election planning
- Poll logistics coordination
This hands-on exposure is considered essential as many of these officers may later serve in election-related district responsibilities.
Ranjita Appointed Director of Census Operations in Bihar
In another administrative development, Ranjita has been appointed as Director of Census Operations (Citizen Registration) for Bihar under the Department of Personnel and Training.
The appointment is linked to citizen registration and census-related administrative coordination in the state.
