Bihar Development Boost: JP Ganga Path to Get ₹387 Crore Integrated Garden Project Along Ganga River 

Bihar government’s riverfront development plan will create green parks, walking and cycling tracks, modern landscaping and world-class public spaces between Digha and Gandhi Maidan.

Patna: The newly developed JP Ganga Path (Riverfront Road) in Patna is set to receive a major transformation as the Bihar government’s ambitious JP Ganga Path Integrated Garden Project (Phase-1) enters its final stages of construction.

The project aims to enhance the beauty of the Ganga riverfront, create world-class public spaces for citizens and promote riverfront tourism in the state capital.

The construction work is being carried out by the Road Construction Department, Bihar, with the project expected to be completed by September 25, 2027.

Six-Kilometre Green Corridor from Digha to Gandhi Maidan

Under the Integrated Garden Project, a modern green landscape is being developed along both sides of JP Ganga Path.

The project will cover an approximately 6-kilometre stretch between Digha and Gandhi Maidan in Patna.

The Bihar government has approved an administrative budget of ₹387.40 crore for Phase-1 of the project.

Construction work is currently underway at the identified locations, with authorities working towards creating an attractive and environment-friendly riverfront area.

Modern Landscaping and Beautification Work Underway

The project focuses on transforming the Ganga riverbank into a visually appealing and sustainable urban space.

Key features planned under the project include:

  • Modern landscaping
  • Attractive lighting systems
  • Extensive plantation and greenery
  • Walking tracks
  • Cycling tracks
  • Green parks
  • Resting shelters and seating areas
  • Recreational spaces for children

The development is aimed at providing a clean, green and comfortable environment for residents and visitors.

New Public Spaces for Families, Senior Citizens and Fitness Enthusiasts

According to officials, the Integrated Garden Project will create modern green public areas where people can spend quality time with their families.

The developed spaces will provide facilities for:

  • Morning and evening walks
  • Cycling activities
  • Outdoor relaxation
  • Children’s recreation
  • Senior citizens’ leisure activities

The walking and cycling tracks are expected to encourage healthier lifestyles among city residents.

Project to Boost Patna’s Riverfront Tourism

Road Construction Department Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal said that the project will significantly improve the appearance of the Ganga riverfront area.

He highlighted that through landscaping, lighting and plantation work, the riverbank will become more attractive and environmentally sustainable.

After completion, the stretch between Digha and Gandhi Maidan is expected to become a major attraction not only for Patna residents but also for tourists visiting the city.

Green Patna Vision Gets New Push

The Integrated Garden Project is part of the Bihar government’s efforts to develop greener urban spaces and improve public infrastructure in Patna.

The initiative aims to create a balance between urban development and environmental conservation by improving greenery along the Ganga riverfront.

The project is expected to give a new identity to Patna’s riverfront by combining:

  • Green development
  • Modern public amenities
  • Sustainable urban planning
  • Tourism promotion

JP Ganga Path Set to Become Patna’s New Urban Landmark

Once completed, the JP Ganga Path Integrated Garden Project is expected to emerge as one of Patna’s prominent recreational and tourism destinations.

With landscaped gardens, modern facilities and improved riverfront aesthetics, the project will provide residents with a world-class public space while enhancing the city’s overall beauty and environmental appeal.
