Following the recent change of government in Bihar, the state administration has initiated a sweeping reshuffle of IAS officers. The General Administration Department has issued a major transfer order, placing new District Magistrates in 13 districts.
The move is being viewed as a decisive step toward strengthening governance and accelerating developmental processes at the district level.
The reshuffle is not limited to existing District Magistrates. Officers from key state departments have also been entrusted with district responsibilities. According to senior officials, these changes are expected to streamline decision-making, improve service delivery, and inject fresh momentum into grassroots administration.
Key Districts See New Leadership
Several important districts have received new administrative heads. Mr. Shrikant Shastri (2012 batch), previously the District Magistrate of Aurangabad, has taken charge as the new District Magistrate of Begusarai.
- Mr. Taranjot Singh (2017 batch) from Madhepura has been posted to West Champaran.
- Mr. Vivek Ranjan (2017 batch), who served as the District Magistrate of Shivhar, has now been appointed District Magistrate of Siwan.
- Ms. Abhilasha Sharma (2017 batch) from Arwal will now serve as the District Magistrate of Aurangabad.
Senior Officials Assigned to New District Roles
The transfer list also includes several senior bureaucrats entrusted with district responsibilities.
- Mr. Ashutosh Dwivedi (2018 batch), Joint Secretary in the Building Construction Department, will now serve as the District Magistrate of Katihar.
- Mr. Vaibhav Srivastava (2018 batch), Director of the Information and Public Relations Department, has been given charge of Saran.
- Mr. Vinod Duhan (2018 batch), Director of Mines, has been appointed the District Magistrate of Araria.
- Ms. Pratibha Rani (2018 batch) has taken over as the District Magistrate of Sheohar.
Department Heads Move to District Administration
Officers holding significant departmental responsibilities have also been repositioned to district leadership roles.
- Mr. Abhishek Ranjan (2018 batch), Director of the Fisheries Department, has been appointed District Magistrate of Madhepura.
- Mr. Shekhar Anand (2018 batch), Director in the Industries Department, will now serve as the District Magistrate of Sheikhpura.
- Ms. Amrita Bains (2018 batch), Special Officer in the Energy Department, has been posted as District Magistrate of Arwal.
- Ms. Sahila, Director of Primary Education, has been appointed District Magistrate of Buxar.
- Mr. Nitin Kumar Singh (2018 batch), Director in the Agriculture Department, will serve as the District Magistrate of Kaimur.
