Patna: The Bihar Education Department has stepped up preparations to promote digital education across the state. Computer education is set to become compulsory for students studying in Class 6 and above from the next academic session. Before introducing the programme for students, the department will ensure that teachers receive the necessary computer training.
Under the proposed plan, teachers will be trained in computer education at the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT). The training programme will focus on basic computer operations and essential aspects of digital education, enabling teachers to effectively impart practical computer knowledge to students in classrooms.
The department has instructed the concerned officials to complete all necessary preparations within the stipulated timeframe to ensure the smooth implementation of the initiative.
Computer Training for Teachers at SCERT Before New Academic Session
As part of the initiative, teachers will undergo specialised training at SCERT before computer education becomes mandatory for students from Class 6 onwards.
The objective is to equip teachers with the required technical knowledge and practical skills so they can guide students in using computers and understanding digital learning tools.
The department believes that training teachers beforehand will help ensure effective classroom delivery and improve students’ access to digital education.
Smart Classrooms to Be Developed in All 700 Saraswati Vidya Niketans
Alongside the introduction of compulsory computer education, the Bihar Education Department has set a target to develop smart classrooms in all 700 Saraswati Vidya Niketans, also referred to as model schools, across the state.
The smart classrooms are expected to be developed before March 31. Preparations are underway to provide the necessary infrastructure, resources and facilities to these schools to strengthen technology-based learning.
The initiative is aimed at creating a better learning environment and expanding the use of digital resources in school education.
Boundary Walls to Be Constructed in Model Schools
The department has also directed officials to ensure the construction of boundary walls in model schools where this infrastructure is still unavailable.
The work must be completed within the prescribed deadline. The focus is on ensuring that schools have the necessary basic infrastructure and digital learning facilities before the beginning of the next academic session.
Through these measures, the Bihar Education Department aims to strengthen digital education, improve school infrastructure and prepare both teachers and students for technology-based learning.
