Patna: In a bid to reconnect Bihar’s youth with the state’s rich cultural and traditional heritage, the classic 1982 film Nadiya Ke Paar will be showcased at the “House of Variety” in Regent Cinema Campus, Gandhi Maidan, Patna. The initiative is part of the ongoing “Coffee with Film” program organized by the Bihar State Film Development and Finance Corporation Limited under the Department of Art and Culture, Bihar Government.
Bihar Government Promotes Regional Cinema and Traditions
Speaking on the occasion, Arvind Ranjan Das, an official of the Film Development Corporation, said that the program aims to present films that highlight Bihar’s traditions, folklore, and cultural identity on a weekly basis, followed by discussions to engage audiences in the preservation and promotion of regional cinema.
About the Film Nadiya Ke Paar
The 1982 film Nadiya Ke Paar, produced by Tarachand Barjatya and directed by Govind Munis under the banner of Rajshri Productions, is a musical social drama celebrated for its simplicity and authentic depiction of Bhojpuri culture. The film features timeless songs composed by the late Ravindra Jain, including the iconic “Kaun Disha Mein Le Ke Chala Re Batohiya”, whose cover versions are still popular among Gen Z audiences today.
Special Guests and Cultural Discussion
The screening will be attended by Pranav Kumar, Secretary of the Department of Art and Culture, as the chief guest, while Ruby, General Manager of Bihar State Film Corporation, will host the program. Alongside the film, a discussion titled “Regional Cinema of Bihar: Staying Rooted in Tradition” will be held, bringing together eminent personalities from literature, arts, and music to share their perspectives.
