New Delhi: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Maharatna and Fortune Global 500 company, has been awarded the SCOPE Eminence Award for Environment Excellence & Sustainable Development for the year 2022-23. The recognition underscores BPCL’s strong commitment to sustainability and its role in India’s green energy transition.

The award was presented by President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, in the presence of Minister of State for Finance, Shri Pankaj Chaudhary, to Sanjay Khanna, Director (Refineries) with additional charge of Chairman & Managing Director, and Vetsa Ramkrishna Gupta, Director (Finance), at a prestigious function hosted by Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE).

Pioneering India’s Green Energy Shift

BPCL is leading India’s drive toward a low-carbon future with its ambitious Net Zero by 2040 roadmap. It is investing strategically in biofuels, compressed biogas (CBG), green hydrogen, and renewable energy to drive sustainable growth while reducing its carbon footprint.

The company currently operates over 6,500 electric vehicle charging stations, further enhancing India’s EV infrastructure. BPCL is also actively building an integrated energy ecosystem aligned with global climate goals.
