In a surprise move, Assam Police arrested 34 civil servants, in connection with the 2014 Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) cash-for-job scam. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Assam Police arrested the bureaucrats from various parts of the state on Tuesday, 21 November.
These 34 officers were implicated in the inquiry report of Justice (Retired) Biplab Kumar Sharma Commission. On Tuesday night, when Assam DGP G. P. Singh had posted a cryptic “As you sow, so shall you reap” on social media platform X, little did anyone guess that he was referring to the ensuing arrest of the 34 bureaucrats. This move is on expected lines to increase the faith of the public in the state government.
