IAS officer Mukta Arya, who served as district election officer of Howrah assembly constituency during West Bengal polls last year, had lost her father a day before polling in her constituency but desoite all the issues, she reported to work the next day to ensure a smooth and peaceful election. The Election Commission honored Arya with the Best Electoral Practices Award for her good work and sincerity.
Sumit Gupta, the DEO of North 24 Parganas during West Bengal polls last year, also won the Best Electoral Practices award for his intensive voter education initiatives
Goalpara DEO Varnali Deka for building database of PwD (persons with disability) voters and Birbhum SP Nagendra Nath Tripathi for conducting peaceful polls despite casualty of a close family member.
National Award for government department for voter awareness went to Bureau of Outreach and Communication DG Satyendra Prakash, while National Media Award was conferred by EC on RNU head of All India Radio in Guwahati Manas Pratim Sarma for spreading voter awareness through news bulletins, debates and discussions on the radio.
