Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has been conferred with the esteemed “Coal India Productivity Award” for the year 2024–25, recognizing its outstanding achievements in productivity and industrial efficiency.

The award was presented during the 67th National Convention and 9th International Conference & National Productivity Contest, organised by the Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering (IIIE) on Friday in Thiruvananthapuram.

Focus on Industry 5.0 and AI-Driven Sustainability

The central theme of the event was “Industry 5.0: AI-driven Industrial Engineering for Sustainability,” underlining the evolving role of artificial intelligence in shaping sustainable industrial practices. The event brought together leaders from engineering, manufacturing, and public sector enterprises to celebrate excellence and innovation.

Dignitaries in Attendance

The award ceremony was graced by Mr. V. Narayanan, Former Chief of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Chairman, Department of Space, and Advisor, Ministry of Space, Government of India, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his keynote, Mr. Narayanan emphasized the importance of integrating technology with human-centric approaches for a resilient and future-ready industrial landscape.

NCL’s Moment of Recognition

The award was received on behalf of NCL by Mr. Manoj Kumar Singh, General Manager (Industrial Engineering Department – IED). Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Singh expressed gratitude for the honour and reaffirmed NCL’s commitment to advancing productivity through innovation and sustainable practices.

“This recognition is a result of dedicated teamwork, forward-thinking strategies, and our ongoing pursuit of operational excellence,” Mr. Singh stated.
