Gujarat: Five Deputy Collector Cadre Officials Retired Prematurely With 3 Months Pay

Gujarat government has issued order of prematurely retirement of 5 deputy collector cadre officials. revenue officers. In an unprecedented move, an official in the Ahmedabad collectorate and four other revenue officers of the deputy collector cadre, who had attained the age of 50 years or more, prematurely retired on Saturday. These officers were given till the afternoon to leave the office. This is the first time in Gujarat’s civil services that four officers at one go have been prematurely retired from service.

Sources in the revenue department said a few of these Gujarat Administrative Services (GAS) officers were awaiting promotions and elevation to the IAS in a few years. The revenue department notification executed by deputy secretary Amit Upadhay on Saturday states that the decision was taken in “public interest”. The officers include Ahmedabad second special land acquisition officer B S Khokhariya; deputy district development officer Surendranagar I V Desai; deputy district election officer Amreli N G Kumpavat; deputy director panchayati raj training centre, Junagadh, J D Joshi, and deputy collector, Ghudhkhar sanctuary, Kutch, R B Pakhawala.

They have been given three months’ salary as compensation along with other retirement benefits. The retired officials, included an official who had a departmental probe pending against him.
