In a significant development involving a public spat between IAS Rohini Sindhuri and IPS D Roopa Moudgil, the Karnataka High Court has ended a temporary injunction order issued by a Bengaluru civil court earlier this year.
The temporary injunction preventing IPS officer D Roopa Moudgil from posting any disparaging material on IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri that was extended in March was revoked by a single-judge bench of Justice Sreenivas Harish Kumar on a plea filed by Roopa.
The two Karnataka bureaucrats had recently engaged in a social media brawl that was widely circulated in the media. It had consequently led to the pair’s transfer from their current jobs.
When Rohini was the District Collector of Mysuru, they frequently argued, but things came to blows when she was seen with JD(S) MLA Sa Ra Mahesh in a restaurant.
Roopa, in a Facebook post, shared a YouTube link titled ‘Rohini Sindhuri meeting with former Minister Sa Ra Mahesh’ and listed 19 allegations against Rohini and her illegal acts. The IPS officer also accused Rohini of sending personal pictures to other IAS officers.
An ex-parte interim injunction order had been issued on February 24 by the Additional City Civil and Sessions Court in Bengaluru, prohibiting IPS officer D Roopa Moudgil from posting any disparaging material on IAS official Rohini Sindhuri. On March 7, the restraining order was extended.
