New Delhi: The Government of India has entrusted Mr. C Neelakanta Reddy, IRSSE (1997), with the additional charge of Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), Visakhapatnam. The appointment has been made for a period of one year or until a regular CVO is appointed, whichever is earlier.
The decision has been issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions and approved by the competent authority to ensure continued vigilance oversight at the major public sector steel enterprise.
Additional Responsibility Alongside NMDC Role
Mr. C Neelakanta Reddy is currently serving as the Chief Vigilance Officer at National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC), Hyderabad. With this new assignment, he will oversee vigilance functions at both NMDC and RINL.
The move is aimed at strengthening governance mechanisms and ensuring uninterrupted vigilance supervision at RINL during the interim period.

Government Approval and Official Communication
The entrustment follows the Ministry of Steel’s Office Memorandum dated February 11, 2026. Copies of the order have been forwarded to the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and other concerned officials for information and necessary action.
The appointment underscores the government’s focus on maintaining transparency, accountability, and compliance standards in central public sector enterprises.
Experienced IRSSE Officer with Strong Vigilance Background
An officer of the Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers (IRSSE), 1997 batch, Mr. Neelakanta Reddy has built a distinguished track record in vigilance administration and compliance oversight. His experience in handling sensitive vigilance matters within public sector organizations is expected to further strengthen internal controls at RINL.
The additional charge is seen as a step toward reinforcing ethical governance practices and institutional integrity at the steel major.
