New Delhi: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has entrusted several senior Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) officers in the grades of Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (PrCCIT) and Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (CCIT) with additional charges across various regions and specialized departments. These assignments are aimed at ensuring administrative continuity, operational efficiency, and smooth functioning of tax administration in multiple jurisdictions.
Key Additional Charges Assigned
The following officers have been assigned additional responsibilities:
- Preeti Garg, PrCCIT, Karnataka & Goa Region, Bengaluru – entrusted with additional charge of PrCCIT, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Region, Chennai.
- Aparna Karan, PrCCIT, UP (West) & Uttarakhand Region, Kanpur – entrusted with additional charge of PrCCIT, UP (East) Region, Lucknow.
- Sumeet Kumar, PrCCIT, Rajasthan Region, Jaipur – entrusted with additional charge of PrCCIT, MP & Chhattisgarh Region, Bhopal.
- Bijoy Kumar Panda, DGIT (Investigation), MP & Chhattisgarh Region, Bhopal – entrusted with additional charge of DGIT (Investigation), AP & Telangana Region, Hyderabad.
- M Anil Kumar, PrCCIT, AP & Telangana Region, Hyderabad – entrusted with additional charge of PrCCIT, Odisha Region, Bhubaneshwar.
- Nidhi Srivastava, CCIT-7, Delhi – entrusted with additional charge of CCIT-2, Delhi.

- Narender Kumar, DGIT (Investigation), Karnataka & Goa Region, Bengaluru – entrusted with additional charges of DGIT (Investigation), Kerala Region, Kochi, and DGIT (Investigation), Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Region, Chennai.
- Renuka Jain Gupta, CCIT, UP (West) & Uttarakhand Region, Dehradun – entrusted with additional charge of CCIT, UP (West) & Uttarakhand Region, Ghaziabad.
- Nirupama Kotru, CCIT-7, Mumbai Region, Mumbai – entrusted with additional charge of CCIT-3, Mumbai.
- Vikram Sahay, CCIT-9, Mumbai Region, Mumbai – entrusted with additional charge of Member-2, Board for Advance Rulings-III, Mumbai.
Significance of the Assignments
These additional charges are intended to:
- Ensure seamless administration in multiple regions simultaneously.
- Allow officers with specialized expertise to manage multiple jurisdictions or functions efficiently.
- Support key departmental functions, including investigation, international taxation, settlement boards, and advance rulings.
- Strengthen the CBDT’s operational capabilities in revenue administration across India.
Officials noted that such arrangements are common in the IRS hierarchy to maintain administrative stability during transitions, temporary vacancies, or strategic restructuring of regional offices.

The officers entrusted with additional charges will continue to perform their primary roles while overseeing new responsibilities. The CBDT aims to enhance efficiency, accountability, and enforcement capabilities through these appointments, particularly in regions handling high-volume taxation and complex cases.
