CBIC: 6 Senior IRS Officers Elevated to Top Positions Including Prachi Saroop

New Delhi: In a significant promotion exercise, the Government of India has empanelled two senior Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officers to the prestigious positions of Principal Chief Commissioner/Principal Director General (Apex Scale). Additionally, two officers have been promoted to the rank of Chief Commissioner, and two others to the position of Principal Commissioner.

The list of promoted officers is as follows:

• Principal Chief Commissioner/Principal DG:
  • Chandra Prakash Goyal (IRS C&IT: 1991)
  • Prachi Saroop (IRS C&IT: 1991)
  Chandra Prakash Goyal is set to retire in October 2025, while Prachi Saroop has a term of service until July 2028.
• Chief Commissioner, Customs & Indirect Taxes:
  • Manas Ranjan Mohanty (IRS C&IT: 1992)
  • Navin Kumar Jain (IRS C&IT: 1992)
  Mohanty will remain in service until June 2027, whereas Jain will serve until 2026.
• Principal Commissioner:
  • B A V Srinivasa Rao (IRS C&IT: 1995)
  • Lalit Prasad (IRS C&IT: 1995)
  Lalit Prasad will retire in July 2026, while B A V Srinivasa Rao will continue until June 2030.

These promotions are part of a broader reshuffling within the Customs and Indirect Taxes department, which is expected to bolster the leadership of the Indian Revenue Service in the coming years. The appointed officers will take on significant roles in shaping the direction of the department and furthering the government’s goals in tax administration and revenue collection.
