Centre: Govt Appoints New PS to Ministers Across Various Ministries, IRS Vinay Kaushal Made PS to Ashwini Vaishnaw

Government appoints new private secretaries across ministries, including Dr. S Tejaswi Naik, Takhat Singh Ranawat, Vinay Kaushal, Anirudh Sravan Pulipaka, and S S Nakul.

In a recent development, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued an order on Friday, June 21, 2024, approving the appointment of several officers as Private Secretaries across various ministries.

2009 batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, Dr. S Tejaswi Naik has been appointed as the Principal Secretary (PS) to Heavy Industries Minister H D Kumaraswamy. His appointment specifically pertains to the Ministry of Heavy Industries. His tenure will last until December 14, 2027, for the remaining five years of his central deputation as Private Secretary, or on a co-terminus basis with the Minister, or until he ceases to function as Private Secretary to the Minister, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Mr Takhat Singh Ranawat, 2007 batch Indian Forest Service (IFoS) officer of Karnataka cadre, has been appointed as the PS to Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy. His expertise is expected to contribute to the strategic initiatives of the Steel Ministry. His tenure will last until November 24, 2026, for the remaining five years of his central deputation as Private Secretary, or on a co-terminus basis with the Minister, or until he ceases to function as Private Secretary to the Minister, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

2011 batch IRS-IT officer Vinay Kaushal has been appointed as the PS to Mr Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics and Information Technology. His appointment specifically pertains to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. His tenure will last until January 27, 2027, for the remaining five years of his central deputation as Private Secretary, or on a co-terminus basis with the Minister, or until he ceases to function as Private Secretary to the Minister, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Anirudh Sravan Pulipaka, an IAS officer of 2011 batch and Karnataka cadre, has been appointed as the PS to Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. His administrative skills will support the minister in policy formulation and implementation. His tenure will last until September 26, 2028, for the remaining five years of his central deputation as Private Secretary, or on a co-terminus basis with the Minister, or until he ceases to function as Private Secretary to the Minister, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

2010 batch IAS officer of Karnataka cadre, Mr S S Nakul has assumed the role of PS to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. His appointment is crucial for managing financial policies and initiatives of the ministry. His tenure will last until January 24, 2026, for the remaining five years of his central deputation as Private Secretary, or on a co-terminus basis with the Minister, or until he ceases to function as Private Secretary to the Minister, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

According to an order issued by the DoPT on Friday, June 21, 2024, the competent authority has approved the proposal to appoint these officers as Private Secretaries in various ministries. The appointments are effective from the date they assume charge of their respective posts.

These appointments highlight strategic administrative placements aimed at enhancing ministerial operations across various portfolios.
