New Delhi: The Central Government has approved a series of appointments involving officers from the Indian Economic Service (IES), Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Information Service (IInfoS), assigning them new responsibilities in key departments and the Cabinet Secretariat.
A Srija, a 1996-batch IES officer, has been appointed Joint Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat (SR) for a tenure of five years, subject to the prescribed conditions. Meanwhile, Karthikeyan K P, a 2014-batch Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer, has been appointed Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs under the Central Staffing Scheme. Mayusha A M, an IInfoS officer of the 2011 batch, has also been selected as Director in the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
Separately, the government has ordered changes to the appointment of Central Nodal Officers responsible for reviewing and monitoring Aspirational Agricultural Districts under the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY).
A Srija Appointed Joint Secretary in Cabinet Secretariat
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of A Srija, IES (1996), presently serving in her cadre, as Joint Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat (SR).
Her tenure will be five years from the date she assumes charge, on or after November 15, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
She will succeed D. Sai Amutha Devi, an IP&TA&FS officer of the 1995 batch, who is currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat (SR). To facilitate the appointment, the post is being temporarily downgraded to the Joint Secretary level.
The appointment places Srija in a key position within the Cabinet Secretariat, which supports the Union government’s decision-making and coordination processes.
IAS Karthikeyan K P Appointed Deputy Secretary in Economic Affairs
Karthikeyan K P, a 2014-batch IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, has been appointed Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs in Delhi under the Central Staffing Scheme.
According to the appointment communication, the competent authority has approved his appointment for a period of four years from the date he assumes charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The officer is to be relieved of his current duties immediately and instructed to take up his new assignment in the Department of Economic Affairs.
The appointment order also reiterates the Centre’s instructions regarding the timeline for joining central deputation posts. Under the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet’s directions conveyed through the Department of Personnel and Training’s circular dated August 17, 2005, an officer is required to join the post within three weeks of the issue of the appointment order.
Failure to join within the prescribed period may lead to the initiation of debarment proceedings under the Central Staffing Scheme.
Mayusha A M Selected as Director in Women and Child Development Ministry
Mayusha A M, an Indian Information Service officer of the 2011 batch, has been selected for appointment as Director in the Ministry of Women and Child Development in Delhi.
She was recommended for central deputation by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Her appointment has been approved under the Central Staffing Scheme for five years from the date she assumes charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The ministry has been asked to relieve her of her present responsibilities immediately so that she can take up her new assignment.
As in Karthikeyan K P’s case, the appointment communication specifies that she must join the new post within three weeks of the issue of the Department of Personnel and Training’s appointment order. Failure to meet the deadline may trigger the process for debarment from the Central Staffing Scheme.
Her appointment brings an officer with a background in information services into the Ministry of Women and Child Development, which handles policies and programmes relating to women and children.
Changes in Central Nodal Officers Under PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana
In a separate administrative order, the government has announced changes to the appointment of Central Nodal Officers (CNOs) tasked with reviewing and monitoring Aspirational Agricultural Districts under the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana.
The latest memorandum refers to an earlier Office Memorandum dated October 3, 2025, along with subsequent amendments issued from time to time. It states that the Central Nodal Officers for the districts identified in an accompanying annexure have been replaced or newly appointed.
The CNOs are responsible for reviewing and monitoring progress in the designated districts under the scheme. The revised appointments are intended to update the officer assignments for the districts covered by the order.
For clarifications, the memorandum directs officers to contact Chinmay P. Gotmare, Joint Secretary (Marketing and PMDDKY), Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The contact details provided are email: [email protected] and telephone numbers 011-23389614 and 011-23386124.
