Raipur: The Government of India has formally accepted the resignation of P Arun Prasad, a 2006-batch officer of the Indian Forest Service (IFoS) from the Chhattisgarh cadre. Prasad, a highly respected officer with nearly two decades of service, had submitted his resignation citing personal reasons. The acceptance of his resignation by the Central Government marks the end of a distinguished public service career and has sparked speculation about his potential move to the private sector.
Key Leadership Roles Across Successive Governments
Arun Prasad most recently served as the Member Secretary of the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (Pollution Control Board). Over the years, he has held several critical positions in the Chhattisgarh government, including Managing Director of the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC) and the Chhattisgarh Mandi Board. He is among the few officers to have retained prominent administrative roles across three successive state governments—under Dr. Raman Singh, Bhupesh Baghel, and Vishnu Deo Sai.

Known for Forest Protection and Ground-Level Work
Prasad began his career with ground-level postings in Dantewada and Rajnandgaon, two of the most sensitive and forested districts in the state. As Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), he earned recognition for his contributions to forest conservation, community engagement, and administration in Naxal-affected regions.
Reputation for Discipline and Policy Acumen
A native of Tamil Nadu, Prasad held the rank of Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) at the time of his resignation. He is widely regarded as a disciplined, forward-thinking, and policy-driven officer, with a career marked by strategic reforms in environmental regulation, industrial planning, and governance transparency.
Colleagues describe him as someone deeply involved in digital governance, ecological sustainability, and institutional efficiency—qualities that reportedly make him a strong contender for leadership roles in the private sector.
