UP: Senior IAS Officer Chaitra V Files FIR Against Hotel Businessman Over Mental Harassment

Alleges Threats, Coercion Over Husband’s Past Business Ties With Accused
Indian Masterminds Stories

Lucknow: A senior IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, Ms Chaitra V, has lodged a formal complaint against hotel businessman Naren Raj, accusing him of mental harassment and intimidation. The FIR was registered at Alambagh police station in Lucknow, with the police now launching a full investigation into the matter.

Background: Business Links Between Accused and Husband

According to media reports, Chaitra V’s husband, Harish, had prior business dealings with Naren Raj. Following a financial downturn in their venture, Naren allegedly began pressuring the IAS officer to leverage her position and contacts to introduce him to other influential figures in the hotel industry.

When Chaitra refused to comply, Raj is said to have resorted to harassment, including threats and repeated coercion.

FIR Registered; Police Begin Investigation

Acting upon the complaint, the Alambagh police filed an FIR against Naren Raj. Inspector Subhash Saroj, who is leading the investigation, confirmed that the case is being taken seriously and appropriate legal action will be pursued based on the evidence gathered.

The officer has accused Raj of mental harassment, undue pressure, and threats to her personal and professional integrity.

“The accused was harassing her by demanding she perform unnecessary and inappropriate acts,” said a source close to the investigation.

Distinguished Career of the Complainant

Ms. Chaitra V, a 2007 batch IAS officer, currently serves as the Director General of Youth Welfare and the Provincial Rural Development (PRD) Department in Uttar Pradesh.

Throughout her service, she has held several key administrative positions, including-

  • District Magistrate and Collector of Siddharthnagar, Hapur, Hathras, and Kasganj
  • Divisional Commissioner of Aligarh

Her strong administrative record has earned her a reputation for integrity and discipline.

What Happens Next

The police are currently collecting evidence, taking statements, and examining any communication between the officer and the accused. Investigators are also expected to look into the nature of past business dealings between Harish and Naren Raj to establish the full context of the case.

The case has sparked conversation about the misuse of professional relationships and the increasing instances of harassment faced by women in positions of power, even from non-government sectors.
