Champawat: Under the leadership of Pushkar Singh Dhami, Champawat district has received a significant financial boost of ₹11.50 crore under the 15th Finance Commission for the financial year 2025–26. This allocation aims to strengthen the three-tier Panchayati Raj system and accelerate rural development.
Strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions
District Magistrate Manish Kumar stated that funds have been distributed across Gram Panchayats, Kshetra Panchayats, and Zila Panchayats to ensure balanced development. The initiative focuses on improving infrastructure and essential services in rural areas.
District Panchayati Raj Officer Mahesh Kumar confirmed that the funds will support multiple development projects at different administrative levels.
Zila Panchayat Allocation Details
- Untied Grant: ₹97.04 lakh (released in two equal installments of ₹48.52 lakh each)
- Tied Grant (First Installment): ₹72.79 lakh
These funds will be used for priority-based development works and essential services.
Kshetra Panchayat Funding Breakdown
Untied Grants (Total: ₹70.22 lakh)
- Champawat Block: ₹26.26 lakh
- Lohaghat: ₹13.04 lakh
- Barakot: ₹12.18 lakh
- Pati Block: ₹18.74 lakh
Tied Grants – First Installment (Total: ₹52.68 lakh)
- Champawat: ₹19.66 lakh
- Pati: ₹14.07 lakh
- Lohaghat: ₹9.78 lakh
- Barakot: ₹9.17 lakh
Major Allocation for Gram Panchayats
Gram Panchayats received the largest share of funding to boost grassroots development:
- Tied Grant (First Installment): ₹3.61 crore
- Champawat Block: ₹1.38 crore
- Pati Block: ~₹1 crore
- Untied Grant (Total): ₹4.96 crore (including both installments)
These funds are expected to significantly improve rural infrastructure, sanitation, and basic amenities.
