New Delhi: The Government of India on Tuesday appointed Charanjeet Singh (IFS: 1996) as the next Ambassador and Permanent Representative of India to the UN Conference on Disarmament in Geneva. He is currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and is expected to take up his new assignment shortly, according to an official statement by the MEA.

The Ministry of External Affairs said, “ Charanjeet Singh (IFS: 1996), presently Additional Secretary in the Ministry, has been appointed as the next Ambassador/PR of India to the UN Conference on Disarmament, Geneva. He is expected to take up the assignment shortly.”

His career highlights include leading Indian diplomatic missions in Europe and Russia, managing bilateral relations, and representing India in multilateral forums.
