Raipur: In a major boost to digital connectivity in Chhattisgarh, the Central Government has approved the installation of 513 new 4G mobile towers through BSNL under the Digital Bharat Nidhi initiative. The move is aimed at strengthening mobile and internet services in Naxal-affected and remote regions, linking connectivity expansion with peace, security, and development efforts.
Welcoming the decision, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the approval reflects the success of coordinated security operations and administrative efforts that have helped stabilize previously disturbed areas. He noted that the expansion of digital infrastructure in such regions marks a transition from conflict management to development-driven governance.
Digital Connectivity to Transform Remote and Naxal-Affected Areas
The Chief Minister said that the installation of 4G towers will provide reliable mobile and internet services for the first time in many remote and inaccessible parts of the state. Improved connectivity is expected to significantly enhance access to education, healthcare, employment opportunities, administrative services, and emergency communication.
He added that better digital access will empower local communities and bridge long-standing development gaps between urban and rural regions.
Boost to Financial Inclusion and Digital Services
According to CM Sai, the expansion of mobile networks will also accelerate financial inclusion in underserved areas. Stronger connectivity will enable easier access to banking services, Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT), UPI transactions, insurance, pensions, and other digital platforms, ensuring that government benefits reach citizens efficiently and transparently.
The initiative aligns closely with the Digital India vision, which seeks to ensure that the benefits of technology-led growth reach the last mile.
Development Alongside Security Remains Priority
The Chief Minister emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Centre is pursuing a balanced approach in Naxal-affected states—prioritizing development alongside security. He said the Chhattisgarh government is working in close coordination with the Centre to integrate every citizen into the mainstream of development.
CM Sai expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of Chhattisgarh to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, calling the decision a crucial step toward making the state digitally empowered, secure, and inclusive.
