Raipur: The Central Government has approved ₹15.70 crore in additional financial assistance for Chhattisgarh to help the state tackle natural disasters that occurred in 2025. The decision was taken during a high-level committee meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, which sanctioned ₹1,912.99 crore in extra aid for all disaster-affected states.
The assistance aims to accelerate relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts following floods, flash floods, cloudbursts, landslides, and the cyclonic storm ‘Montha’.

Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his gratitude to the Central Government for the additional support in disaster management, highlighting the importance of coordinated efforts between the Centre and the state.
The funds will be released through the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), enabling the state to respond promptly and effectively to disaster situations.
Aid Strengthens Relief and Rehabilitation Efforts
The additional ₹15.70 crore to Chhattisgarh is over and above previously allocated resources. The central assistance ensures that the state can carry out:
- Rapid relief operations
- Rehabilitation of affected communities
- Reconstruction of damaged infrastructure
This move reflects the Centre’s priority to provide necessary resources to states during natural calamities, ensuring minimal disruption and faster recovery.
National Support for Disaster Management
For the financial year 2025-26, the Central Government has already provided significant resources for disaster preparedness across the country:
- State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF): ₹20,735.20 crore to 28 states
- National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF): ₹3,628.18 crore to 21 states
- State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF): ₹5,373.20 crore to 23 states
- National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF): ₹1,189.56 crore to 21 states
These allocations aim to reduce disaster risks and strengthen long-term resilience measures.

The Central Government emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India stands firmly with disaster-affected states. The government ensures that states receive timely assistance, resources, and support for immediate relief, rehabilitation, and rebuilding efforts.
