Raipur: In a major push for urban development, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated and laid the foundation for 23 key development projects in Raipur, the state capital, with a total estimated cost of over ₹187 crore. The event, held at Fundhar playground, marked a significant step towards modernizing infrastructure and improving urban facilities for citizens.
Major Projects Launched and Groundbreaking Initiatives
During the ceremony, 17 projects worth ₹185.49 crore had their foundations laid, while six projects worth ₹1.49 crore were inaugurated. Key developments include:
- Infrastructure and Roads: Sindoor Path at Telibandha Chowk (₹1 crore), road improvements in Raipur North, South, and Rural Assembly constituencies, and new CC roads and RCC drains under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
- Public Spaces and Recreational Areas: Inauguration of the Atal Complex at Fundhar Chowk, Box Cricket Pitch under Assembly Bridge, Vanbhainsa near Court Complex, and improvements at ISBT and Mowa Bridge.
- Educational and Residential Facilities: Groundbreaking of women’s hostels near Pandri Bus Stand (₹14.71 crore) and Nariya Talab (₹14.66 crore).
- Water and Utility Projects: New 2,500 KL water reservoir in Khamhardih (₹20.93 crore), rising and distribution pipelines in Bhanlandi and Fundhar areas (₹35.73 crore), and electric substation setup (₹2.79 crore).
- Urban Development and Heritage Projects: Construction of technical towers near Telibandha Chowk (₹39.31 crore), beautification of Nalanda Complex (₹11.42 crore), and Gaon Gaurav Path from Pachpedi Naka to CSEB Chowk (₹13.39 crore).
- PMAY and Other Beneficiary Schemes: Certificates for PMAY (Urban) beneficiaries and distribution of ₹50,000 cheques under PM Swanidhi scheme for women entrepreneurs.

Focus on Sustainable Urban Development
The CM emphasized the importance of these initiatives in enhancing Raipur’s infrastructure and public amenities. Projects like the Atal Complexes are being developed across urban local bodies in the state to commemorate the centenary year of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, ensuring his legacy is permanently enshrined in public memory.
Strengthening Civic Amenities and Services
The development projects also focus on easing traffic, improving stormwater drainage, and modernizing public recreational spaces. Key urban areas such as Telibandha, Fundhar, Bhanlandi, and Avinash Van will see significant upgrades, providing citizens with better roads, parks, and essential services. The CM highlighted that such projects will not only improve living conditions but also contribute to sustainable city growth.
Honoring Atal Ji and Promoting Awareness
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also released a coffee table book titled “Atal Path Par Chhattisgarh”, celebrating the life, vision, and contributions of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. This initiative is aimed at inspiring citizens and youth by highlighting his leadership and dedication to national development.
PMAY and PM Swanidhi Beneficiaries Receive Recognition
Certificates and cheques were distributed to women beneficiaries under the PMAY (Urban) and PM Swanidhi schemes, reinforcing the government’s commitment to social welfare, women empowerment, and financial inclusion.
