Sonakhan: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai visited Sonakhan to commemorate the legacy of Chhattisgarh’s first martyr, Veer Narayan Singh, and to inaugurate and lay the foundation for 119 new development projects in the region. During the program, the CM paid homage to the martyr, honored his descendants, and unveiled several initiatives aimed at enhancing infrastructure, tourism, tribal welfare, and public services.
Honoring the Sacrifice of Veer Narayan Singh
Speaking at the event, CM Sai described Veer Narayan Singh’s sacrifice as a symbol of Chhattisgarh’s pride, resilience, and self-respect. He recalled how Singh stood against British oppression and provided food to the poor during times of famine, setting an example of humanity and courage. “His dedication continues to inspire generations to stand against injustice,” the CM said.
New Initiatives for Sonakhan
As part of the development agenda, CM Sai announced several key measures for the region:
- Launch of rural bus services under the Chief Minister’s Gramin Bus Yojana.
- Allocation of ₹75 lakh for a new primary health center, ₹50 lakh for the construction of Siyan Sadan, and ₹20 lakh for building toilets at the Madai Mela ground.

Boosting Eco-Tourism and Infrastructure
Highlighting the region’s potential, the CM emphasized the government’s focus on developing Sonakhan as a tourist destination. Provisions for eco-tourism projects and road construction will be included in the upcoming state budget, aiming to create employment opportunities for local residents while promoting sustainable tourism.
Projects Launched and Beneficiaries
CM Sai inaugurated and laid the foundation for 119 development projects worth ₹101.44 crore, which include:
- Water supply schemes
- Stop-dam construction
- Embankments and flood control works
- Residential building projects
Additionally, the CM distributed keys to houses under the Prime Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme to 10 beneficiaries, handed out appointment letters to 37 youth under the ‘Hum Honge Kaamyab’ program, and honored five outstanding tribal students.
Government’s Focus on Tribal Welfare and Legacy
CM Sai reiterated the government’s commitment to improving basic facilities in tribal areas and highlighted the implementation of several initiatives under Prime Minister Modi’s promises. He said Veer Narayan Singh’s valor continues to serve as a guiding inspiration for the state and its people.
Presence of Dignitaries
The program was attended by several senior officials and political leaders, including Tribal Welfare Minister Ramvichar Netam, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, Revenue Minister Tankaram Verma, former Assembly Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal, former MLA Dr. Sanam Jangde, and descendants of Veer Narayan Singh. Local citizens and representatives of various organizations were also present to witness the event.
