Raipur: The state of Chhattisgarh took a major stride in housing development as Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated 55 new projects worth ₹2,060 crore under the Chhattisgarh Housing Board at a three-day state-level housing fair held at BTI Grounds, Shankar Nagar. These projects, spanning across 26 districts, aim to provide over 12,000 affordable and high-quality homes for residents.
Launch of AI Chatbot and Digital Portal
Alongside the housing projects, CM Sai launched the Housing Board’s new AI chatbot and information portal, designed to provide citizens with direct, easy access to project updates and application processes. This initiative is expected to simplify public interaction with government housing schemes and enhance transparency in project implementation.
Strong Attendance and Government Support
The event saw a significant turnout of dignitaries and citizens, including Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, Housing and Environment Minister O.P. Chaudhary, Revenue Minister Tankaram Verma, MLAs Motilal Sahu, Purandar Mishra, Anuj Sharma, and Housing Board Chairman Anurag Singhdev. Large crowds of citizens also flocked to the venue on the inaugural day, highlighting the strong public interest in affordable housing schemes.
Government Focus on Affordable Housing
Addressing the gathering, CM Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized that providing affordable housing is a top priority for the state government. He noted that the government had cleared the Housing Board’s ₹790 crore debt to strengthen the organization. Under the Prime Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme, 26 lakh homes have been approved in Chhattisgarh over the past two years. Additionally, 32,000 houses have been sanctioned for particularly vulnerable tribal communities, and 15,000 homes for surrendered Naxal families and Naxal-affected households in the Bastar region.
The Chief Minister personally handed over certificates and keys to beneficiaries who booked their homes during the fair, reflecting the government’s commitment to delivering results at the grassroots level.
Assembly Speaker and Ministers Praise Housing Initiatives
Dr. Raman Singh praised the Housing Board’s performance and noted the massive turnout at the fair, stating that the crowd caused traffic congestion from Shankar Nagar Turning Point to Khamhardih Road. He highlighted that the government has allocated ₹14,000 crore in the budget for housing projects across the state.
Housing and Environment Minister O.P. Chaudhary said that the Housing Board generated ₹672 crore in business in the past year, and the recent relaxations in land diversion and freehold rules have benefited both the board and citizens.
Next Phase of Housing Projects
Housing Board Chairman Anurag Singhdev stated that under his leadership, the Board will accelerate construction work across all districts, with the next phase focusing on initiating new projects in all assembly constituencies.
Crowds Show Keen Interest
The housing fair, running until November 25, saw large numbers of visitors from the very first day. Citizens thronged the venue to seek information on the new housing projects, demonstrating strong demand for affordable and accessible homes in Chhattisgarh.
With these initiatives, the state government aims to enhance urban mobility, improve housing availability, and ensure that citizens from all sections of society have access to safe, affordable, and quality homes.
