Raipur: Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao on the platform of Emerging Chhattisgarh spoke at length about the state’s development journey, stating that under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the government has set new benchmarks of growth and governance. He said the current government began with a clear vision and commitment to transform the state into a developed region.
‘These Two Years Are the Foundation of a Developed Chhattisgarh’
Addressing the event, Arun Sao said that the government took charge with a strong resolve to strengthen the state founded by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He described the first two years of the present government as the foundation period for a developed Chhattisgarh, highlighting how progress made during this phase reflects the direction the state is heading.

Modi’s Guarantee Being Implemented in a Time-Bound Manner
The Deputy CM emphasized that the government was formed on the basis of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guarantee, and those commitments are being fulfilled within fixed timelines. He said the state is moving rapidly towards becoming Naxal-free and economically strong.
Focus on Welfare Schemes and Transparent Governance
Arun Sao highlighted several major initiatives taken by the government, including:
- Construction of 18 lakh houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
- Implementation of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana
- Action taken in the PAC scam case
- Ensuring transparency in recruitment processes
- Providing honorarium to landless agricultural families
He said the government is working simultaneously on fulfilling promises and strengthening governance.
Cities Were in Poor Shape Under Previous Congress Government: Arun Sao
Taking a dig at the previous Congress-led government, the Deputy CM alleged that urban infrastructure had deteriorated badly during their tenure. He said the current administration is focused on creating clean, well-planned, and organized cities, with special attention to basic civic amenities and sanitation.
Over ₹10,000 Crore Being Spent on Road Construction
Highlighting infrastructure development, Arun Sao said the state has undertaken road construction projects worth over ₹10,000 crore. He claimed that potholes across the state have been largely eliminated and roadwork is progressing at a fast pace.
He also said that drinking water supply systems are now functioning smoothly and development schemes are being designed according to the specific needs of the state.
Bharatmala Project a Game-Changer for Chhattisgarh
Calling the Bharatmala Project a major milestone, the Deputy CM said it is a “big line of development” for the state. He noted that roads not only improve connectivity but also create opportunities in education, industry, and trade, thereby strengthening the overall economy.
Online Monitoring System for Road Quality
Arun Sao said that damaged roads were identified even before the monsoon season. He warned that strict action will be taken against officials if poor-quality repair work is found.
Under new guidelines:
- Any pothole must be repaired within one week
- Roads will be monitored through an online system
- Citizens can upload photos of damaged roads, and action will be taken accordingly
‘Opposition Has the Right to Question’
Responding to criticism, the Deputy CM said that questioning by the opposition is part of democracy.
However, he asserted that under CM Vishnu Deo Sai’s leadership, the government is firmly focused on fulfilling public aspirations.
He described CM Sai as an experienced leader who has risen from the grassroots and is now working tirelessly towards building a developed Chhattisgarh.
