GPM: The 6th Foundation Day of GPM district was celebrated in grand style at the Multipurpose School playground, with Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai leading the festivities. During the event, the CM inaugurated and performed the ground-breaking for 113 development projects worth over ₹100.38 crore and blessed 300 newlywed couples under the Kanya Vivah Yojana.
Event Kickoff and Focus on Public Welfare
The celebration began with a tribute to Chhattisgarh Mahatari through floral offerings and the state anthem. Addressing the audience, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized that the Arpa Festival is not just a celebration but a platform to accelerate district development and public welfare initiatives. He stressed that the benefits of government schemes will reach 100% of eligible beneficiaries.

113 Development Projects: Inaugurations and Groundbreaking
The CM announced a total of 113 projects, including:
- 7 projects (₹16.90 crore) inaugurated
- 106 projects (₹83.47 crore) laid foundation
These projects cover roads, irrigation, public buildings, tourism, and urban infrastructure, aimed at boosting the overall development and connectivity of the district.
Major Infrastructure and Tourism Announcements
Key initiatives announced include:
- 19 km road construction from Pendra Road to Amarkantak
- Strengthening of Kevchi route for tourism development
- High Rest House in Marwahi Nagar Panchayat
- Stop-dam in Samudlai tourism area
- Auditorium in district headquarters
- Inclusion of GPM district in the Chief Minister Bus Service, enhancing transportation and local employment
Record Collective Marriage Ceremony
A highlight of the day was the mass marriage of 300 couples under the Kanya Vivah Yojana. CM Vishnu Deo Sai congratulated the couples and noted that 6,417 couples across the state married simultaneously, earning recognition in the Golden Book of World Records. The initiative reinforces the government’s commitment to girls’ welfare, social harmony, and secure futures.
Departmental Stalls and Beneficiary Support
The event featured 25 stalls from 19 departments, which the CM inspected to ensure beneficiary-centric implementation. A total of ₹7.36 lakh worth of funds and materials were distributed to scheme beneficiaries, and 5 farmers received symbolic land pattas under the Swamitva Scheme.
Leadership, Appreciation, and Public Participation
The event was chaired by local MLA Pranav Kumar Marpachi, with addresses by MLAs Atal Srivastava and Anuj Sharma. District Collector Leena Kamlesh Mandavi delivered the welcome speech and presented the district development report. The program also saw participation from the District Panchayat Chairperson, departmental officers, police and forest officials, local representatives, and a large number of residents. The Chief Minister was honored with souvenirs at the conclusion of the ceremony.

A video highlighting two years of development progress and the district’s tourism potential was showcased during the event. The message from the celebration was clear: with over ₹100 crore in development projects, upgraded roads, tourism infrastructure, and citizen welfare programs, GPM district is poised for rapid growth and enhanced opportunities.
