Raipur: Chhattisgarh has created a new global milestone in social harmony and women empowerment. The state-level mass wedding organized under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana has officially entered the Golden Book of World Records, making the state a global example of inclusivity and cultural unity.
Thousands of Couples Tie the Knot in a Single Day
In an unprecedented display of social integration, the ceremony successfully united 6,412 couples in marriage in a single day. Among them, 1,316 couples participated directly in Raipur, while the remaining joined virtually from different districts across the state. This massive event not only highlighted the scale but also underscored the spirit of communal harmony in Chhattisgarh.
The event was held at the Science College Grounds in Raipur, where a grand mandap was decorated for the celebration, creating a festive and inclusive atmosphere.
Celebration of Cultural Diversity and Social Inclusion
This record is not merely about numbers—it represents the cultural and social fabric of Chhattisgarh. Couples from Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, and the special backward tribal Baiga community participated, following their unique traditions and rituals. This remarkable blend of cultural diversity showcased the state’s commitment to communal harmony and social unity on an international platform.
Government Support and Financial Assistance
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai personally blessed the newlyweds and emphasized the government’s commitment to easing the financial burden on economically weaker families. Under the scheme, each newly married couple received ₹35,000 as financial assistance, ensuring a secure and happy start to their married life.
Building on Previous Leadership Vision
Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Rajwade highlighted that the initiative builds on the vision of former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh, who originally laid the foundation for the scheme. The current government has expanded its reach, making it more transparent and accessible to the last person in society.
Future Plans to Expand the Scheme
Following this world record achievement, the Chhattisgarh government is considering increasing the budget and scope of the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana. This will enable more families in need to benefit from the scheme and strengthen the state’s commitment to women empowerment and social welfare.
