Chhattisgarh Promotes 16 IPS Officers; Anand Chhabra Appointed ADG, Prashant Agrawal Elevated to IG

Raipur: In a major administrative move, the Sai government of Chhattisgarh has promoted 16 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to higher ranks. The promotion orders were issued by the Chhattisgarh Home Department after receiving approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India.

The promotions span multiple batches and include elevations to the ranks of Additional Director General of Police (ADG), Inspector General of Police (IG), Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), and Selection Grade.

Dr. Anand Chhabra Promoted as Additional Director General of Police

Dr. Anand Chhabra, a 2001-batch IPS officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre, has been promoted to the post of Additional Director General of Police (ADG) after completing 25 years of service.

The Ministry of Home Affairs approved his promotion on January 6, 2026, following which the state government issued formal orders. His elevation marks a significant addition to the senior leadership of the Chhattisgarh Police.

Two 2008-Batch Officers Elevated to Inspector General Rank

Two IPS officers of the 2008 batch – Prashant Kumar Agrawal and Milna Kurre – have been promoted to the rank of Inspector General of Police (IG).

As per the promotion order:

  • Both officers will be required to compulsorily undergo Mid-Career Training (Phase-IV) in the future.
  • Separate posting orders for both officers will be issued at a later stage.

Proforma IG Promotion for Officers on Central Deputation

IPS officer Neethu Kamal (2008 batch), who is currently serving on central deputation, has been granted a proforma promotion to the Inspector General of Police pay scale, effective January 1, 2026.

Similarly, Davuluri Shravan, also on central deputation, has been accorded proforma promotion in the IG pay scale from the same date. These promotions ensure parity in career progression for officers serving outside the state cadre.

Eight 2012-Batch IPS Officers Promoted to DIG Rank

A total of eight IPS officers from the 2012 batch have been promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG). The promotions were approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs on January 6 and January 9, 2026.

The promoted officers are:

Vivek Shukla

  • Rajneesh Singh
  • Shashi Mohan Singh
  • Rajesh Kukreja
  • Shweta Rajamani
  • Rajesh Kumar Agarwal
  • Ramkrishna Sahu

These promotions are expected to strengthen mid-level leadership within the Chhattisgarh Police force.

2013-Batch Officers Promoted to Selection Grade

Four IPS officers of the 2013 batch have been promoted to the Selection Grade. The officers include:

  • Dr. Abhishek Pallav
  • Mohit Garg
  • Bhoj Ram Patel
  • Yashpal Singh

In addition, Jitendra Shukla, who is currently on central deputation, has also been promoted to the Selection Grade, ensuring uniform progression despite deputation.

Strengthening Police Leadership in Chhattisgarh

The large-scale promotion of IPS officers across multiple batches reflects the state government’s focus on strengthening administrative and operational leadership within the Chhattisgarh Police. These promotions are part of routine cadre management and are aimed at improving efficiency, command structure, and governance in the state’s law enforcement machinery.
