Following an alert about a possible emergency landing of a chartered aircraft carrying Supreme Court Chief Justice Suryakant, senior administrative and police officials rushed to Agra’s Kheria Airport on Saturday. The alert was triggered after officials were informed that adverse weather conditions near Etawah might prevent the aircraft from landing at Saifai as scheduled.
The Chief Justice was travelling to Etawah to attend the 33rd Saraswat Convocation of the Etawah Hindi Seva Nidhi, an institution founded by noted jurist and Hindi scholar Justice Prem Shankar Gupta. The chartered plane was originally scheduled to land at Saifai around 11:30 am.
At the time of receiving the alert, District Magistrate Arvind Mallappa Bangari, ADM Protocol Prashant Tiwari, and other senior officers were en route to a Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas programme in Fatehabad. They immediately diverted to Kheria Airport. Senior police officials, including the Police Commissioner, Additional Police Commissioner, DCP City, and DCP Traffic, also reached the airport as a precautionary measure.
Around noon, authorities received updated information from the Meteorological Department indicating that weather conditions in Saifai had improved and were suitable for landing. Shortly thereafter, the chartered aircraft landed safely at Saifai. With the situation normalised, officials returned from Kheria Airport by around 1 pm.
