Dehradun: In a major development initiative for the Sahaspur Assembly constituency, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami laid the foundation stone for the second phase of the road widening project costing ₹12.03 crore (₹1203.40 lakh). The project aims to improve connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance overall infrastructure in the region.

Road Widening Project: Phase II

The second phase of the project will cover roads from Meethiberry to Parwal via Chandni Chowk and from Parwal to Vigyan Dham Jhajhra. This phase will widen and strengthen kilometers 1 to 10 of the existing road network.

CM Dhami emphasized the significance of strong roads for the state’s development, saying,
“Good connectivity promotes trade, boosts tourism, and ensures easier access to education and healthcare. This road widening will reduce traffic jams and provide safe and faster travel for residents.”

Other Development Initiatives in Sahaspur

Apart from the road project, several other key initiatives were announced to enhance regional infrastructure and public services:

  • Bhauwala: Construction of a tube well to improve drinking water supply.
  • Daroo Chowk to Keshavwala River: Drainage construction to prevent waterlogging.
  • Arcadia Bardowala Park: Development of Mokshdham.
  • Asanpur to Cremation Ground: Construction of protective embankments and access roads.
  • Umedpur & Parwal: Embankments along Asan River to protect agricultural land.
  • Ward 93 Bardowala: Safety embankment construction.
  • Paundha: Road repairs and erosion control near cremation ground.

These initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to regional needs and sustainable development.

Focus on Women and Inclusive Growth

Addressing a public meeting, CM Dhami highlighted Uttarakhand’s efforts in inclusive development. He called women the backbone of the hill economy, referring to the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme, where women from self-help groups produce products competing with large companies.

He also stated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the country’s economy has strengthened, and Uttarakhand’s budget has now exceeded ₹1 lakh crore, providing resources for development and welfare.

Preserving Uttarakhand’s Culture and Identity

CM Dhami reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting the state’s cultural identity. Measures such as the Uniform Civil Code, anti-cheating laws, and actions against illegal encroachments reflect this stance.

The government also plans to provide employment opportunities to 10,000–12,000 youth in the current fiscal year. Local MLA Sahdev Singh Pundir expressed gratitude, noting that the government’s policies benefit youth, women, and farmers, while promoting governance and regional development.

About Sahaspur Development Plans

The road widening and allied infrastructure projects are part of Uttarakhand’s broader vision to strengthen connectivity, improve public services, and promote inclusive growth in rural and semi-urban areas. These efforts are expected to boost trade, tourism, and quality of life for residents of Sahaspur and surrounding areas.
