Reaffirming his government’s commitment to the welfare of the weaving community, Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai extended warm greetings to the state’s weavers on the occasion of National Handloom Day. Senior members of the Chhattisgarh Weavers’ Community met the Chief Minister at his official residence and presented him with a handcrafted replica of a traditional handloom, symbolising respect and cultural pride.

Welcoming the delegation, the Chief Minister said, “Handloom craftsmanship is not only an economic asset but also a living expression of our cultural identity.”
Government Focus on Reducing Costs and Enhancing Market Access
Mr. Sai highlighted several ongoing initiatives aimed at uplifting the handloom sector. He stated that his administration is working on reducing production costs, ensuring continuous access to raw materials, and strengthening market linkages for handloom products. These efforts, he said, are part of a broader vision to ensure the prosperity, empowerment, and self-reliance of the weavers.
“Self-reliance unlocks the creative spirit of our weavers,” the Chief Minister noted.
Handloom as a Symbol of Indigenous Strength
Citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign, Mr. Sai underscored the importance of celebrating the handloom sector as a symbol of India’s indigenous strength. He said, “The weaving community has kept our cultural consciousness alive through devotion and artistry.”
Accepting the handcrafted loom, he remarked, “This is not just a symbol of respect but a powerful representation of creation, tradition, and community values.”

Chief Minister Sai concluded by reaffirming his government’s commitment to implementing policies that uphold the dignity of weavers and support their livelihoods. He expressed confidence that a new era of prosperity and empowerment has begun for the weaving community in Chhattisgarh.
