CM Yogi Reviews Progress of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum, Aims for Grand Completion by January 2026

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today conducted a detailed review of the construction progress of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum in Agra, directing officials to ensure the museum is completed by January 2026. The museum, which will serve as a symbol of India’s valor, self-respect, and cultural heritage, is poised to offer an immersive, interactive experience that brings to life the nation’s rich history.

During the review, CM Yogi emphasized that the museum should not only house static displays but should be a dynamic, technology-driven experience where visitors can deeply connect with India’s glorious past. “This museum must embody the spirit of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s valor, the sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters, and the cultural richness of Uttar Pradesh,” he said.

Immersive Galleries and Technology-Driven Exhibits

A key feature of the museum will be the “Shivaji and the Great Escape Gallery,” where visitors will be able to experience the legendary escape of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj from Agra Fort using 7D technology. The gallery will incorporate digital sound, lighting, and visual effects to make the historical event come alive.

Additionally, CM Yogi directed that the “Gallery of Pioneers” should feature important figures from the 1857 rebellion, including Rani Lakshmibai, Nana Saheb, and Tatya Tope. Modern digital displays will highlight their contributions, preserving their legacy and the spirit of the struggle for India’s freedom.

Festivals and Rivers of Uttar Pradesh

The museum will also feature a “Festivals Gallery,” showcasing Uttar Pradesh’s rich traditions and vibrant festivals such as Mahashivratri, Dev Deepawali, Shri Krishna Janmotsav, and the Maha Kumbh. CM Yogi instructed that these galleries be brought to life using immersive light, sound, and color experiences, turning them into dynamic, multi-sensory experiences rather than static displays.

Another prominent exhibit will be the “Gallery of Rivers,” which will highlight the significance of sacred rivers like the Ganga, Yamuna, Saryu, and Ghaghra in shaping Uttar Pradesh’s faith, culture, and folk life. The section will include representations of the rivers’ role in shaping Indian philosophy, values, and religious life.

Cultural Soul of Uttar Pradesh

CM Yogi emphasized that every artwork, sculpture, and architectural element in the museum must reflect the cultural soul of Uttar Pradesh. The design will incorporate a fusion of folk art, traditional crafts, and modern creativity to tell a compelling story of India’s past, particularly Uttar Pradesh’s pivotal role in shaping the nation’s cultural and historical narrative.

The museum will also include an “Agra Gallery” to showcase the city’s architectural heritage, focusing on Mughal architecture, Braj culture, and modern-day Agra. Additionally, an “Orientation Gallery” will introduce visitors to the life of Shivaji Maharaj and the socio-cultural context of his time.

A Vision for the Future

CM Yogi urged officials to integrate cutting-edge technology such as virtual reality, digital archives, and sound-light shows throughout the museum. The goal, he said, is not only to preserve the past but also to inspire future generations by making India’s history accessible and engaging.

Weekly Reviews and Quality Control

The Chief Minister instructed the Culture Department and construction agencies to conduct weekly progress reviews to ensure the museum’s timely completion and adherence to high-quality standards. “This museum will not only enhance Agra’s global identity but also become a living symbol of Uttar Pradesh’s cultural pride,” CM Yogi added.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum is set to become a major cultural landmark, blending rich history with innovative technology to create an unforgettable experience for visitors, bringing India’s valor and heritage to life.
