Coal India Partners with DGR to Empower Ex-Servicemen in Coal Loading and Transportation

New Delhi: Coal India Limited (CIL), the country’s largest coal producer, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) to enhance coal loading and transportation operations by engaging Ex-Servicemen (ESM) companies across its subsidiaries.

The initiative aligns with CIL’s strategy to improve efficiency, reliability, and inclusivity in its logistics operations while supporting national resettlement and rehabilitation efforts for ex-servicemen.

ESM Companies Handle 30% of Coal Loading at MCL

Speaking at the signing ceremony, P.M. Prasad, Chairman of Coal India Limited, highlighted the significant contribution of Ex-Servicemen companies to coal logistics.

“ESM companies play a crucial role, handling nearly 30% of coal loading and transportation at Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL),” he stated, emphasizing the operational importance of this collaboration.

Top Government Officials Present at the MoU Signing

The MoU was signed in the presence of Dr. Niten Chandra, IAS, Secretary, Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (ESW), along with senior officials from CIL and DESW.

This partnership aims to strengthen the logistics value chain across CIL’s subsidiaries while creating employment opportunities for ex-servicemen.

By engaging ESM companies, CIL seeks to:

  • Enhance efficiency in coal loading and transportation.
  • Ensure operational reliability through disciplined logistics.
  • Support government initiatives for ex-servicemen rehabilitation.
  • Promote inclusive growth within the coal sector.
