New Delhi: Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharat Mumbai Container Terminals Pvt. Ltd. (PSA Mumbai) to strengthen rail-based logistics connectivity for domestic, cabotage, and EXIM cargo movement.
The agreement was signed on May 15, 2026, in New Delhi in the presence of senior leadership from both organisations, including CONCOR CMD Sanjay Swarup and PSA International Regional CEO Vincent Ng.

The collaboration is designed to optimise infrastructure usage by improving:
- Yard space utilisation at PSA Mumbai
- Rail handling and cargo aggregation facilities
- Efficient evacuation of containers from the port
This is expected to streamline cargo handling operations and reduce congestion at the port terminal.
Boost to Logistics Efficiency and Cost Effectiveness
The partnership is aimed at improving overall logistics performance by:
- Reducing dependence on road transport
- Cutting down cargo turnaround time
- Enhancing cost-efficient freight movement
- Improving reliability of supply chain operations
Officials said the initiative will significantly strengthen cargo evacuation efficiency from one of India’s busiest container terminals.
Plans for Scheduled Container Train Services
Both CONCOR and PSA Mumbai will explore the possibility of introducing scheduled container train services, subject to operational feasibility and regulatory approvals.
The MoU also includes exploring a broader strategic alliance for future logistics and terminal-related collaborations.
Step Towards Stronger Port-Rail Connectivity in India
The collaboration is expected to play an important role in strengthening India’s logistics infrastructure by improving connectivity between ports and hinterland markets.
Industry experts believe such partnerships will help enhance supply chain efficiency and support India’s growing trade and manufacturing ecosystem.
