New Delhi: The Delhi Police have taken into custody the accused woman, Gaganpreet Kaur, in connection with the tragic road accident that claimed the life of Deputy Secretary Navjot Singh from the Finance Ministry. The accident occurred in the Delhi Cantt area on Sunday, involving a speeding BMW that collided with the motorcycle on which Navjot Singh and his wife were traveling.
Deputy Secretary Navjot Singh Dies in Delhi Cantt Road Accident
Deputy Secretary Navjot Singh, a senior officer in the Finance Ministry, tragically lost his life after the motorcycle he was riding with his wife was struck by a BMW car in Delhi Cantt. The couple was returning home to Janakpuri when the accident occurred.
Navjot Singh succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, while his wife, Sandeep Kaur, sustained serious injuries and continues to receive medical treatment.
Accused Woman Gaganpreet Kaur Taken Into Custody
Following the incident, the accused woman, identified as Gaganpreet Kaur, a resident of Gurugram, was hospitalized for treatment but has now been discharged. Subsequently, Delhi Police took her into custody for further investigation.
Her husband, Parikshit, who was also involved in the incident and injured, is reportedly under police scrutiny as well.
Eyewitness Account and Medical Response
According to Dr. Shakuntala, who treated the injured, on September 14 at around 2 PM, Gaganpreet Kaur and her husband Parikshit brought Navjot Singh and his wife to the hospital following the accident. Despite efforts to save him, Navjot Singh was declared dead.
Due to the critical condition of Sandeep Kaur, she was referred to a higher medical facility for specialized treatment. Both Gaganpreet and Parikshit were treated for their injuries and are cooperating with the police investigation.

The Delhi Police have intensified the investigation into the accident, focusing on the speed and conduct of the BMW driver, along with the sequence of events following the collision. The police are collecting CCTV footage and eyewitness statements to reconstruct the accident timeline.
Authorities are also examining whether proper medical assistance was provided immediately after the accident, amid reports of delayed or inadequate initial treatment.
