New Delhi: Senior IAS officer Ms. Niharika Rai has been appointed as Additional Director of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), marking a key administrative reshuffle in the state’s representation on the company’s board. Her appointment took effect from August 19, 2025, following the exit of Prashant Goyal, IAS.
A Strategic Appointment in Delhi’s Energy Sector
Ms Rai is a 2005-batch Indian Administrative Service officer from the AGMUT cadre and currently serves as Secretary-cum-Commissioner (Transport) in the Government of NCT of Delhi. Her induction into the IGL board reflects her expanding influence in key infrastructure sectors, especially at a time when clean fuel and mobility reforms are a state focus.
Her role in the Delhi Transport Department, where she has overseen policy developments in electric mobility and public transit reforms, aligns closely with IGL’s strategic goals in clean and sustainable energy.
Prashant Goyal Steps Down
Ms. Rai replaces Prashant Goyal, IAS, who ceased to be a Director of IGL on the same day. Goyal had served as a government-nominated Director and held several influential administrative roles in Delhi.
