New Delhi: Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) has recorded its highest-ever freight interchange with Indian Railways, with 927 trains and three loaded empties (LEs) interchanged on the Dedicated Freight Corridor network on September 13, 2026.
The latest achievement marks a new benchmark in freight operations on the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) network and reflects the growing operational scale, capacity utilisation and efficiency of freight movement.
DFCCIL Records 927 Train Interchanges
According to DFCCIL, a total of 927 trains and three loaded empties were interchanged between DFCCIL and Indian Railways on September 13.
The freight interchange was divided across the two operational Dedicated Freight Corridors:
- Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC): 504 trains
- Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC): 423 trains
The combined figure represents the highest-ever daily interchange recorded by DFCCIL on the Dedicated Freight Corridor network.

New Record Surpasses September 11 Benchmark
The September 13 figure surpassed DFCCIL’s previous highest freight interchange recorded on September 11, 2026.
The earlier record stood at:
- 908 trains
- 9 loaded empties (LEs)
The latest achievement comes just two days after the previous record, indicating the increasing scale of freight operations and utilisation of the Dedicated Freight Corridor network.
EDFC and WDFC Drive Freight Movement
The Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor accounted for the larger share of the latest interchange, with 504 trains.
The Western Dedicated Freight Corridor recorded 423 trains.
Together, the two corridors are playing an important role in expanding dedicated freight transportation capacity and facilitating faster movement of goods across the Indian railway network.
The latest record also indicates increasing utilisation of the infrastructure created specifically for freight traffic.
