State Bank of India, the country’s biggest lender, today got the new chairman Mr Dinesh Kumar Khara. He replaces Mr Rajnish Kumar, who demitted office on October 6, 2020.
The SBI chairman is assisted by four managing directors. Mr Khara, with 35 years of rich banking experiences, was one of the four managing directors and was handling its global banking and subsidiaries division. As per the convention, the SBI chairman is picked up from the pool of serving managing directors.
Mr Khara’s expertise lies in retail, corporate, credit and international banking. He joined the SBI in 1984 as a probationary officer and is an alumnus of the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi University.
Mr Khara has been appointed as the SBI chairman for a period of three years.
