The tragic incident occurred while the soldiers were on their way for an operational duty, officials confirmed.

Accident Occurred on Bhaderwah–Chamba Interstate Road

According to officials, the accident took place at Khanni Top along the Bhaderwah–Chamba interstate road, a mountainous stretch known for its difficult terrain. Officials stated that the vehicle involved was a Casspir, a mine-protected and bulletproof vehicle used by the Army for troop movement in hostile and high-risk zones. Despite the vehicle’s heavy protection, the impact of the fall proved fatal for several soldiers onboard due to the steep gorge and challenging terrain.

Army Confirms Multiple Casualties

The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps confirmed the incident and the casualties through a post on social media platform X.

“In an unfortunate incident, an Army vehicle carrying troops for an operation slipped off the road while navigating treacherous terrain in bad weather, in the general area of Doda. There are multiple casualties, including fatal. The injured have been evacuated for further treatment,” the Corps said.

Injured Soldiers Airlifted for Medical Treatment

Officials confirmed that ten injured soldiers were immediately evacuated from the accident site. Due to the severity of the terrain and the critical nature of injuries, the wounded personnel were airlifted to hospitals for urgent medical care.

Authorities have ensured that all possible medical assistance is being provided to the injured soldiers.

Lieutenant Governor Expresses Grief and Condolences

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and paid tribute to the fallen soldiers.

“Deeply saddened at the loss of lives of 10 of our brave Indian Army soldiers in an unfortunate road accident in Doda. We will always remember the outstanding service and supreme sacrifice of our brave soldiers. My deepest condolences to the grieving families,” Sinha said in a post on X.

In his message, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized national solidarity with the families of the soldiers who lost their lives.

“In this moment of profound sorrow, the entire nation stands united with the bereaved families in solidarity and support. Ten injured soldiers have been airlifted to the hospital,” he added.

Directions Issued for Best Medical Care

Manoj Sinha further stated that he has directed senior officials to ensure that the injured soldiers receive the best possible medical treatment. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with the Army to provide all necessary assistance.
