ECIL Appoints Dr. Komal Kapoor as Chairman & Managing Director and Director (Technical)

New Delhi: Dr. Komal Kapoor, the Chief Executive of the Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC), has assumed charge as the Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) and Director (Technical) of Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), a Schedule ‘A’ Miniratna Category-I Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India.

A distinguished scientist and metallurgical engineer, Dr. Kapoor brings more than three decades of experience in India’s nuclear sector and is expected to strengthen ECIL’s role in strategic electronics, defence, nuclear technology, and indigenous innovation.

Dr. Komal Kapoor’s Educational Background

Dr. Komal Kapoor is a Distinguished Scientist and Metallurgical Engineer with extensive expertise in nuclear fuel technologies and materials science.

He joined the 33rd batch of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Training School, Mumbai, in 1989. After completing his training, he was posted to the Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC), where he has served in various technical and leadership positions for over three decades.

His academic credentials include:

  • Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay.
  • Adjunct Professor at Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai.
  • Guest Faculty at the University of Hyderabad (UoH).

Dr. Kapoor has dedicated more than 30 years to the Nuclear Fuel Complex, contributing significantly to India’s nuclear fuel production and strategic nuclear infrastructure.
