New Delhi: A major step has been taken towards strengthening electoral cooperation between India and Bhutan as Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) for the supply of advanced Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
The agreement will enable ECIL to provide state-of-the-art EVM technology to Bhutan, supporting the country’s efforts to conduct free, fair, transparent, and efficient elections.
ECIL to Supply Advanced EVMs for Bhutan’s Electoral Process
The MoU on the supply of contract terms was signed between Bhutan’s Chief Election Commissioner Ms. Deki Pema and Dr. Anesh Kumar Sharma, Outstanding Scientist, Director Technical & CMD, ECIL.
Under the agreement, ECIL will supply modern electronic voting machines designed to support the Election Commission of Bhutan in conducting secure and reliable elections.
The collaboration reflects the growing partnership between the two countries in the field of electoral technology and democratic processes.

- Sonam Pelden Thaye, Election Commissioner, ECB
- Govinda Subedi, Director, Election Commission of Bhutan
- Sonam Wangda, Chief Administrative Officer, ECB
- Lt Col RS Bains (Retd), In-Charge, EVM Division, ECIL
The presence of senior officials from both organizations reflected the importance of the partnership.
