Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to launch a statewide Social Security Awareness and Enrollment Mega Campaign to connect sugarcane farmers and their families with key government welfare schemes.

The campaign will be conducted from July 6 to July 11 across all cooperative sugarcane development societies in Uttar Pradesh. The initiative aims to enroll maximum eligible sugarcane farmer families under central government social security schemes, providing them financial protection against unforeseen risks and future uncertainties.

Sugarcane Farmers to Be Linked with PMJJBY, PMSBY and Atal Pension Yojana

Under the mega campaign, farmers and their family members will be encouraged to register for major social security schemes, including:

  • Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY)
  • Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)
  • Atal Pension Yojana (APY)

The Uttar Pradesh Government said these schemes will provide financial support in situations such as accidental death, premature death, disability, and old age.

The initiative is expected to strengthen income security, improve risk management among farming families, and contribute to the stability of the rural economy.

Campaign Aims to Make Farmer Families Financially Secure

The government has set a target of bringing as many eligible sugarcane farmer families as possible under social security coverage.

Officials said the campaign is aligned with the vision of “Viksit Bharat” and “Viksit Uttar Pradesh” by ensuring that farmers become more financially secure, empowered, and self-reliant.

The government believes that access to insurance and pension schemes will reduce financial vulnerability among rural families.

Cooperative Sugarcane Societies to Play Key Role

Cooperative sugarcane development societies will serve as the main link between farmers and social security schemes during the campaign.

These societies will assist farmers by:

  • Creating awareness about available schemes
  • Checking eligibility of beneficiaries
  • Supporting document verification
  • Helping with on-the-spot enrollment

The government said the role of sugarcane societies will expand beyond agricultural services and establish them as important institutions for delivering social security benefits.

Special Assistance and Enrollment Centres to Be Set Up

During the campaign, special help and enrollment centres will be established at cooperative sugarcane society premises.

These centres will provide farmers with:

  • Information about government schemes
  • Eligibility verification
  • Document checking facilities
  • Banking assistance
  • Immediate registration services

Support will also be provided for opening bank accounts, completing new member registrations, and accessing other essential services.

Banks, IFFCO, sugar mills, and other partner organizations will support the smooth implementation of the campaign.

Village-Level Awareness Campaign to Reach Farmers Directly

The government plans to take the campaign to villages through extensive awareness activities.

Sugarcane supervisors, cooperative society secretaries, and departmental officials will visit villages to educate farmers about social security schemes and other farmer welfare initiatives.

Awareness activities will include:

  • Gram Sabha meetings
  • Farmer awareness programmes
  • Village-level outreach campaigns
  • Farmer interaction sessions

The focus will be on ensuring that no eligible farmer family is left out of the enrollment process.

Special Focus on Women Farmers and Self-Help Groups

The campaign will also focus on increasing the participation of rural women through Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

Women farmers and rural women will be encouraged to join insurance and pension schemes, helping them become more involved in financial decision-making.

The government believes that strengthening women’s financial participation will improve the overall economic security of farming families.

Government Targets Inclusive Social Security for Sugarcane Families

The Yogi Adityanath government aims to ensure that every eligible sugarcane farmer family receives access to social security benefits through this statewide initiative.

By combining the efforts of cooperative societies, banks, sugar mills, IFFCO, and government departments, the campaign seeks to create a strong support system for farmers.

The initiative is expected to play an important role in promoting farmer welfare, financial security, and inclusive rural development across Uttar Pradesh.
