New Delhi: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has achieved a major milestone through its CSR initiative Pragati, with the programme successfully training 10,000 mechanics across 22 states and two Union Territories in the maintenance of BS6-compliant two-wheelers and four-wheelers.
The milestone highlights BPCL’s efforts to strengthen technical skills and support better livelihood opportunities for mechanics through industry-relevant training.
BPCL Pragati Completes Training of 10,000 Mechanics
The Pragati initiative has reached 10,000 trained mechanics, marking a significant achievement in BPCL’s skill development and livelihood-focused CSR efforts.
The programme focuses on helping mechanics adapt to evolving automotive technologies, particularly the requirements associated with BS6-compliant vehicles.
As part of the milestone event, 11 trainees were felicitated in the presence of H.D. Kumaraswamy, Union Minister of Heavy Industries, representing the 10,000 mechanics who have completed the programme.

Pragati Focuses on BS6 Technology and Vehicle Diagnostics
Implemented in collaboration with the Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC), the Pragati programme provides mechanics with practical and industry-relevant skills.
The training covers key areas including:
- BS6 vehicle technology
- Fuel injection systems
- Vehicle diagnostics
- Electrical troubleshooting
- Soft skills
- Business development
These skills are aimed at helping mechanics improve their technical capabilities and adapt to changing automotive technologies.
Training Supports Stronger Livelihood Opportunities
Through Pragati, BPCL is combining technical training with soft skills and business development to support the broader professional growth of mechanics.
The programme reflects BPCL’s belief that acquiring new skills can create opportunities for stronger livelihoods and greater economic empowerment.
By expanding the initiative across multiple states and Union Territories, BPCL is also supporting the development of a skilled workforce in the automotive service ecosystem.
