Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav announced that farmers will get electricity for irrigation during the daytime, aimed at making irrigation more convenient and supporting agricultural activities across the state.
Addressing the Balaram Krishi Mahotsav and Kisan Mela in Sheopur virtually from Gwalior Airport, Yadav also announced ₹60 lakh for a new rest house for farmers at the Krishi Upaj Mandi.
One-Year Repayment Window for Crop Loans
Yadav said Madhya Pradesh is observing the current year as Krishak Kalyan Varsh, with several initiatives focused on farmer welfare.
Farmers are being provided crop loans at zero per cent interest. The repayment period, earlier fixed at six months each for Kharif and Rabi loans, has now been extended to one year from the date of availing the loan.
The Chief Minister also stressed the need to strengthen animal husbandry and expand milk cooperative societies to create additional income opportunities for farmers.

Focus on Modern Farming
Sheopur farmers are known for producing paddy and wheat, while millet and other coarse grains are also being cultivated in the district.
During the event, farmers interacted with agricultural scientists and received information on modern farming techniques and crop management. Departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and NRLM also organised exhibitions.
Farmer Mukut Chaudhary from Raddep village told the Chief Minister that he purchased a Super Seeder for stubble management under the agricultural engineering scheme and received a ₹1.20 lakh subsidy.
Meritorious Students Honoured
The programme also recognised students who secured more than 75 per cent marks in Class 12. Yadav said meritorious students had received ₹25,000 each for laptops.
He urged families to prioritise education and avoid unnecessary expenditure on weddings and other social functions, encouraging mass marriage ceremonies.
Progressive farmers and meritorious students were honoured with certificates and shawls during the programme.
The event was attended by district in-charge minister Rakesh Shukla, Agriculture Minister Edal Singh Kansana, Ramniwas Rawat, Apex Bank Chairman Mahendra Singh Yadav, local representatives, senior officials and a large number of farmers.
The daytime power announcement, easier loan repayment and support for modern agricultural machinery are aimed at improving farm operations and strengthening farmer incomes across Madhya Pradesh.
