Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is set to get its first Aerocity near Devi Ahilya International Airport in Indore, with the Indore Development Authority (IDA) Board approving ₹52.61 crore for its development. The Board has also cleared two new flyovers and an important road project, taking the total value of approved development works to ₹177.33 crore.

The projects are aimed at improving airport connectivity, easing traffic congestion and supporting the growth of commercial and service activities in the city.

Aerocity to Come Up Near Indore Airport

The proposed Aerocity will be developed near Scheme No. 172 on land received by the government in exchange for land earlier allotted to IT companies TCS and Infosys under Residential Scheme No. 151-169-B.

The IDA Board has approved ₹52.61 crore for the Aerocity project. Under the Indore Development Plan-2021, administrative approval has also been given for a 75-metre-wide road stretching around 1.5 km to connect the proposed development with the airport.

The project is expected to create a dedicated urban hub around the airport, supporting hotels, commercial establishments, service activities and other facilities. It will also strengthen connectivity with the Pithampur Economic Corridor, which can support wider economic activity in the region.

Two Flyovers Cleared to Reduce Traffic

Along with the Aerocity, the IDA Board has approved two major flyover projects at busy intersections in Indore.

IDA CEO Dr. Parikshit Jhadey said ₹76.59 crore has been approved for a proposed flyover at Radisson Square on the Eastern Ring Road.

Another ₹94.18 crore has been approved for a flyover at Robot Square. Both locations experience significant traffic movement, and the new structures are expected to improve vehicle flow and reduce congestion.

The flyovers are part of the city’s broader effort to strengthen road infrastructure as traffic and urban development continue to expand.

MR-09 Road to Improve Connectivity

The Board has also approved ₹6.56 crore for construction of the Master Plan MR-09 road. The road will connect the Agra-Mumbai Bypass with Authority Scheme No. 5.

The new link is expected to improve movement between important parts of the city and strengthen the existing road network.

₹177.33 Crore Development Works Approved

Taken together, the Aerocity, flyovers and road infrastructure projects represent a significant development push for Indore.

The approved projects include:

  • ₹52.61 crore for the Aerocity
  • ₹76.59 crore for the Radisson Square flyover
  • ₹94.18 crore for the Robot Square flyover
  • ₹6.56 crore for the MR-09 road

The IDA has granted administrative approval for development works worth ₹177.33 crore under the non-plan head.

With airport-linked development, improved road connectivity and new traffic infrastructure moving forward, the projects could play an important role in shaping Indore’s future urban growth and strengthening its position as a major commercial and economic centre of Madhya Pradesh.
