New Delhi: The Government of India has announced notable changes in the bureaucracy and police leadership. Dr Vandana, an IDAS officer serving as Additional Secretary to the former Vice President, has been repatriated to her parent cadre. In a separate move, senior IPS officer Sonia Narang has been appointed as Inspector General (IG) in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
Dr Vandana Returns to Parent Department
Dr Vandana, an officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS), had been serving as Additional Secretary to former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. She has now been repatriated to her cadre.
Before her central posting, she served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Rajya Sabha TV, where she oversaw content and administration. Her repatriation marks a transition back to her service in the defence accounts framework.
Sonia Narang Appointed IG, CISF
In another development, Ms Sonia Narang, a 2002-batch IPS officer of the Karnataka cadre, has been appointed as IG in the CISF. Her tenure will continue until April 6, 2026.
The appointment has been made by temporarily upgrading a vacant Deputy Inspector General (DIG) post to the IG level within CISF. Narang’s elevation underlines the government’s focus on strengthening senior leadership in paramilitary forces, particularly in industrial and infrastructure security.
Strengthening Leadership Across Services
Both moves highlight the government’s ongoing efforts to optimize senior leadership postings in key departments and security agencies. While Dr Vandana returns to contribute to financial and administrative oversight in her cadre, Sonia Narang steps into a crucial role within CISF, responsible for safeguarding critical industrial installations across the country.
