Mejia: Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) Chairman Rajesh Pandey, IAS, visited the Mejia Thermal Power Station (MTPS) for the first time and inaugurated the Model BBD Coal Mill, marking an important step towards improving operational efficiency, reliability and power plant performance.
The visit brought together senior DVC officials for discussions on power generation, fuel management and plant reliability, while also highlighting the organisation’s focus on employee welfare and a supportive workplace.
Model BBD Coal Mill Inaugurated at MTPS
During his maiden visit to MTPS, Chairman DVC Rajesh Pandey inaugurated the Model BBD Coal Mill.
The initiative is expected to contribute to improved operational efficiency and reliability at the thermal power station.
The inauguration marked an important milestone in DVC’s efforts to strengthen plant performance and ensure efficient power generation.

A high-level meeting was held at the Shakti Bhawan Conference Hall, bringing together senior officials from DVC and MTPS.
The meeting was attended by:
- ED (Operation), DVC
- ED (Fuel), DVC
- Additional Secretary, DVC
- CGM & HoP, DVC MTPS
- GM (O&M)
- Other senior officials of MTPS
The discussions focused on key operational and technical aspects, including operational performance, fuel management, plant reliability and efficient power generation.
Cultural Programme Highlights DVC Family Spirit
The visit also featured a cultural programme at the DVC MTPS Auditorium, showcasing the talent, creativity and enthusiasm of the DVC family.
The programme was attended by Rajesh Pandey, IAS, Chairman, DVC; Aneesh Dasgupta, IAS, District Magistrate & Collector, Bankura; and Vaibhav Chaudhary, IAS, Director (Land), DVC.
The distinguished guests were warmly welcomed by Vijaya Nand Sharma, HoP, DVC MTPS.
The cultural event highlighted the organisation’s vibrant workplace culture and provided an opportunity for employees and their families to come together.
DVC Women’s Association Inaugurates Creche Facility
Adding another significant milestone to the visit, Mrs. Shalini Pandey, President, DVC Women’s Association, inaugurated the Creche/Day Care Facility at MTPS.
The facility reflects DVC’s focus on employee welfare and its efforts to create a more supportive, inclusive and family-friendly workplace. The initiative is expected to provide greater support to employees with young children and contribute to a more employee-centric working environment.
