Engineering Projects India (EPI) to Manage ₹800 Crore Maternal & Child Care Centre at Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi

EPI to Oversee End-to-End Execution of Landmark Healthcare Facility in New Delhi

New Delhi: In a major boost to public healthcare infrastructure, Engineering Projects (India) Ltd (EPI) has been appointed as the Project Management Consultant (PMC) for the construction of a ₹800 crore Maternal & Child Care Centre (MCCC) at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College & Safdarjung Hospital (VMMC & SJH) in the national capital.

EPI, a Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, was selected following a competitive Quality and Cost-Based Selection (QCBS) process. The Letter of Award (LoA) for the project was officially issued on August 29.

Scope of Work: From Planning to Commissioning

As PMC, EPI will be responsible for comprehensive consultancy and management services, including:

  • Preparation of master plan and DPR
  • Architectural and engineering designs
  • Cost estimation and procurement support
  • Supervision and quality control during execution
  • Testing, commissioning, and post-completion maintenance

The project aims to ensure cost efficiency, timely execution, and world-class quality standards, setting a benchmark in maternal and child healthcare infrastructure in India.

EPI’s Chairman & Managing Director expressed pride in securing the project, stating:

“We are honoured to be entrusted with this prestigious project for VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital. The Maternal and Child Care Centre will be a landmark healthcare facility, and EPI is fully committed to delivering it with the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and professionalism.”

He further highlighted EPI’s continued role in strengthening institutional infrastructure, especially in healthcare.

About VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital

One of India’s largest government-run multi-disciplinary hospitals, Safdarjung Hospital caters to millions of patients annually, particularly from economically weaker sections. The new MCCC is expected to enhance maternal and neonatal care, reduce patient load, and modernize medical services at the institution.

Engineering Projects (India) Limited (EPIL) is a Government of India Enterprise under the administrative control of the Ministry of Heavy Industries. It’s a “Schedule B” Mini Ratna Category-II CPSE (Central Public Sector Enterprise). Established in 1970, EPI’s primary focus is on undertaking turnkey projects and providing consultancy services, particularly in civil, structural, material handling, metallurgy, mining, and fertilizer industries, both domestically and internationally.
